When the original Quantium X was killed (along with all of the other members of The Defense League), during the epic battle with The Disciples of Eth, his son (name withheld for security reasons) was surprised to learn that his father had been a superhero, and that he had inherited many of the same strange mutant abilities that his father had possessed.
When the call went out for heroes to join the newly created D.E.F.E.N.S.E. Incorporated, he decided to take the name and costume of his famous father, in the hopes of serving Paragon City, while trying to learn more about his own abilities.
